The nicotine patch of dieting!

Posted 3 Weeks ago by Cupola

So, I invented a new recipe that's super tasty and filling, but also very low in calories and cheap to make!

Take frozen california blend veggies (I.E. Broccoli, Cauliflower and carrots) and heat them up in the microwave. Sprinkle on a teaspoon each of chicken broth powder and chili powder, pour in boiling water, and sprinkle on some red curry. I'm still blown away at what I stumbled accross. If you eat just this, you're absolutely guaranteed to lose weight!

This sounds interesting!

It’s always crazy what you can do with vegetables with some seasoning.

Got any other suggestions?

My staples are brown rice, black beans, lentils, potatoes and sardines, supplemented with Normandy blend vegetables, bananas, apples, yogurt and some cheese and dark chocolate.

That's the only recipe I've got I'm afraid. But I do know that vinegar is great for flavor!

Just thinking of the scent makes me wrinkle my nose.

I learned recently that there are different types of vinegar. Apple cider vinegar is the one they tend to sell in stores, and it's pretty nasty but then balsamic vinegar is closer to wine and pretty amazing. Also I believe "white vinegar" is what's normally put into non-balsamic salad dressings like ranch or whatever.

I like using pickle juice as a vinegar -- it has a similar sour/fermentation profile but salty and a lot of unique flavors.

Had to use this to get rid of fruit flies in my apartment a few years ago.

I can't rightfully say I ever got used to the smell, even with it out on the counter for two days.

And worse, the smell lingered for days after, too.

Never again.

I recently learned that Ranch dressing is white vinegar and mayonnaise. Which, no. Never.

.... Ever try pickle juice whiskey?

In my line of work, I make and handle more salad dressings than the rest of this community combined. Just thought I'd clear some things up.

Oh man, I can't wait until you find out about actual red wine vinegar. Your head's gonna fuckin' explode.

I'm curious as to what the stores around you are like. By which I mean... every supermarket I've been in sells a variety of vinegar.

Vinegar as a whole is totally optional in ranch dressing. Even when vinegar is included, a less harsh variety such as apple cider vinegar can be used just as well.

I make ranch dressing by the gallon at my job. The ingredients we use are mayonnaise, buttermilk and some dry seasonings. No vinegar at all (though we do use various types of vinegar for the Greek dressing, etc.).

If we're talking about food in general, here's the self-care meal that I just had. Just a special little thing for me alone.

Oh man you're right - I knew I read up on this a few weeks ago learned it was something that really disgusted me haha

But I'm too picky for my own good.

Hot-smoked salmon, with brie and Norwegian crispbread.

It does sound like maybe I could cook it and maybe it would be healthy and maybe it would be tasty.
